Canada Dental Care Plan (CDCP): Ensuring Affordable Dental Coverage Nationwide

We are delighted to announce that Summit park dentistry is a participant of the Canada Dental Care Plan (CDCP). We hope to make the dental journey easier for many through this.

Summit park Dentistry takes a step further with its best dental treatment through the addition of CDCP in its payment plans.

Eligibility for CDCP?

Meet these requirements to be eligible for the CDCP plan:

  • Ensure your tax returns for the previous year are duly filed.

  • A family net income of less than $90,000 after adjustments.

  • You should not have existing private dental insurance.

  • Be classified as a Canadian resident for tax purposes.

How to Use CDCP

The CDCP program was rolled out in phases, starting with the seniors. Letters were sent to eligible seniors encouraging them to apply. The letters had a code and instructions for applying by phone.

Here’s when different groups can apply:

  • Seniors aged 87 and above Starting December 2023

  • Seniors aged 77 to 86: Starting January 2024

  • Seniors aged 72 to 76: Starting February 2024

  • Seniors aged 70 to 71: Starting March 2024

  • Seniors aged 65 to 69: Starting May 2024

  • People with a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate: Starting June 2024

  • Children under 18: Starting June 2024

  • Everyone else who’s eligible: Starting 2025

If you have received the letter or wish to inquire about the CDCP, contact your dentist today. Summit Park Dentistry, Hannon is a CDCP participant. Yes! Things are super easy with us.

Once enrolled, please present your CDCP registration to our team at reception, who will handle the payments.

Not all dentists offer the plan because participation in the program is voluntary. Compare your private plan to the CDCP to determine which is best for you. Coverage may vary, and some CDCP clients may be charged additional fees. If you need assistance deciding, contact your private insurer, dentist, or CDCP.

Services Covered Under CDCP

Here is the current coverage for CDCP:

  • Preventive services such as cleanings, examinations, and X-rays.

  • Restorative services including fillings and root canal treatments.

  • Prosthodontic services such as dentures.

  • Periodontal services including deep cleaning.

  • Oral surgery services including extractions.

What Will be Covered by CDCP?

The CDCP will cover your oral health costs based on your family’s income and established CDCP fees. If your family’s income falls between $70,000 and $89,999, or the cost of your procedures exceeds CDCP costs, you must pay additional fees directly to the provider.

Depending on these factors, sometimes your provider may ask for a co-payment. So the co-payment is a portion of CDCP fees that are not covered by the program and must be paid directly to the provider.

The compensation from CDCP differs depending on the dentist’s charges. You may have to pay if the service fee is more than the reimbursement. In fact, if you need services that are not covered by the CDCP, then you’ll have to pay the whole amount.

Always read and discuss with your dentist to avoid any payment-related surprises.
